Do you live Ottawa and like food? Do you get hungry and don’t know what to eat? Well, I’m here to help you. Here are 5 great restaurants in Ottawa that will leave you satisfied:
PIZZA:
This place keeps it simple and to the point. The menu isn’t too big. They focus on quality over quantity. If you’re in the downtown area and looking for a late night snack check out this place:
Lil Z’s Pizza: I stumbled upon this sports bar when I was in the downtown area trying to watch the game. Boy, was I lucky to find such a good restaurant. They’re open everyday from 11:30am-11pm and stay open on Fridays and Saturdays until 2am. I ordered the meat lovers pizza which blew me away. If you like pizza this is the place for you. https://www.lilzpizza.com/pages/menu
ITALIAN:
Who doesn’t enjoy a nice bowl of pasta? There’s so many different options to choose from tortellini, ravioli, spaghetti. I know a place that makes you feel like you’re in Italy, it’s called:
Cabottos: This is my favourite Italian restaurant in Ottawa. This one requires reservations and is a little on the pricier side. The waiters and waitresses make you feel at home. When you come here trying their roasted butternut squash soup is a must. Their mushroom bruschetta is also very yummy. For the main course, I went with tortellini Sebastiano which ended up being incredible. To be honest, any choice from their main menu would’ve tasted good. My goal is to come here enough times until I’ve tried everything on their menu. They’re open from Tuesday to Saturday from 4pm-9pm, and stay open until 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Check this restaurant’s reviews out, look at the pictures of their food, and you’ll understand quickly why I am obsessed with this place. https://cabottos.com/Menus/PatioDineinMenu/tabid/117714/Default.aspx
ICE CREAM
Some people eat ice cream only in the summer, but I like to eat ice cream all year round. The problem In Ottawa is finding the right place. Everyone knows about Dairy Queen and Baskin Robbins, but those places are boring. This place, usually has long lineups going down the sidewalk because it’s that good, it’s called:
Merry Dairy: It’s a family run business. Their ice cream menu caters to everyone with gluten free options, soy free options, dairy free options, nut free, vegan, and just regular ice cream. So it doesn’t matter if you’re lactose intolerant because merry dairy has your back. When I’m here my go to order is one of their homemade ice cream sandwiches and 1 scoop of strawberry ice cream, and 1 scoop of salted caramel ice cream. Just come check this place out the next time you’re craving something sweet. https://themerrydairy.com
VIETNAMESE
There’s so many pho restaurants in Ottawa. Everyone seems to have their own favourite place, I am no different, here is mine:
Kanata Noodle House: Now, anyone that’s close to me knows I love this restaurant. I mention it almost once a week. That’s because IT’S THAT GOOD! When I come to their carling location, I come ready to treat my palate to something delectable. I order their Vietnamese subs which is called banh mi, the pork filled one is the best one. These subs alone can fill a normal person up, but I am not normal. I also order their pad thai. I get chicken and shrimp inside my pad thai. Their serving size is so big, you’ll have to take a to go plate home. But that’s good because it means you’ll have lunch for tomorrow. At each table they have chilli sauce and hoisin sauce, these are the sauces that will elevate your meals. The best Kanata Noodle House location is the 4049 Carling Ave one. And they’re open everyday from 10am-9pm. https://carling.kanatanoodlehouse.com
AFRICAN
Now everyone that knows me knows I’m half African, even though my skin is whiter than snow. Understandably, I love African food and enjoy this place a lot:
African Grill: This place is located on Merivale Road and opens everyday from 12pm-8pm and stays open until 9pm on Fridays and Saturdays. This is one of my favourite African restaurants in Ottawa. It’s a suya joint and they come as advertised. Seasoning to the extreme, tender meat, and spice levels for all tolerances. I lost my goat suya virginity at this place about 5 years ago, and still haven’t found better tasting goat meat anywhere in Ottawa. I usually order beef suya or goat suya, but they also have chicken suya which tastes really good. Now, if you’re a foodie and want something different and savoury come to African Grill. https://suya-joint.com
This completes another installment of 5 great restaurants in Ottawa. I hope you guys check these restaurants out one day. Remember, without food, you wouldn’t be alive.
